Perang Baru dan Departemen Keamanan

SUN Tzu, seorang filsuf dan teorekus Cina, menulis karya magnus opus-nya tentang perang lebih dari 2.500 tahun yang lalu. Bukunya masih dianggap salah satu karya paling relevan dan komprehensif perihal subjek kepemimpinan dan peperangan. Bukunya penuh dengan petunjuk dan pelajaran tentang bagaimana cara melancarkan peperangan. Beberapa teorinya bersifat universal dan masih relevan sampai saat ini.

Hampir 1.900 tahun setelah Sun Tzu, seorang sarjana ilmu perang lain menulis karya gemilangnya. Carl von Clausewitz, seorang jenderal Prusia, yang menjabat direktur kolese perang Prusia, menulis buku berjudul On War, yang menjadi buku wajib bagi setiap jenderal dan laksamana di seluruh dunia.Clausewitz tidak begitu peduli pada taktik dan kebenaran doktrin operasional. Ia tidak peduli pada strategi besar perang. Clausewitz-lah yang mengadvokasi konsep perang total, di mana seluruh kekayaan dan sumber daya bangsa akan digunakan untuk menghancurkan tidak hanya tentara lawan, tetapi juga hak milik dan warga negara yang diperangi. Perang total ini dimaksudkan untuk menghancurkan determinasi musuh untuk bertempur dan mengakhiri konflik dengan
cepat dan meyakinkan.
